Rejecting the police217;s request for an extension in the physical remand of Sher Shah, the nephew of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, in the Jinnah House attack case, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Thursday sent him to jail on a 14-day judicial remand instead.
On Saturday, police produced Shershah before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore amid tight security. The judge, Manzar Ali Gill, approved a five-day physical remand after police requested custody.
The investigating officer (IO) told the court that Shershah was present at the scene, and his presence had been confirmed through video evidence. Objecting to the arrest of his client, defence counsel Barrister Salman Akram Raja argued that Shershah was apprehended 27 months after the incident. He said courts had previously discharged suspects over delayed arrests, adding: “If this practice continues, the entire city will end up behind bars.”
